ABC confirmed Friday it has pulled the first-year comedy “The Mayor” from its schedule and will air reruns of “Modern Family” in its place in the Tuesday 9:30-10 p.m. time slot.
“The Mayor’s” 1.1 rating for its 10 episodes among viewers ages 18- 49, the group ABC targets and advertisers covet, was 15th among the 18 scripted series ABC has aired this season, according to live-plus-same-day figures released by Nielsen Wednesday.
“The Mayor” stars Brandon Michael Hall as a young rapper who runs for mayor of his Northern California hometown to generate buzz for his music career and is unexpectedly elected.
Of the five series that premiered on ABC in the fall, only “The Good Doctor” and “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World” will be on the schedule after Saturday. The superhero series “Marvel’s Inhumans” ended its eight-episode run Nov. 10 and the drama “Ten Days in the Valley” will end its 10-episode run Saturday.
