A man who barricaded himself in a Hollywood residence, prompting an officer-involved shooting in which he was not struck by the gunfire, was in custody today and being treated for injuries sustained in the standoff.
Assault With A Deadly Weapon Report
The incident began at 4:50 p.m. Friday when an assault with a deadly
weapon was reported in the 5600 block of Fernwood Avenue, near the Hollywood
(101) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man allegedly threatened his sister and parents with a knife,
according to reports from the scene. No one was injured.
Officer Involved Shooting
Responding officers encountered the barricaded man and a SWAT team was
requested, police said.
Sometime after 8 p.m. an officer-involved shooting occurred, police
said. What prompted officers to shoot was not reported but police said no
officers were injured.
Man Injured By Non-Lethal Rounds
The standoff came to an end at 12:30 a.m. today, police said. Less
lethal rounds were fired at the man, injuring him, and he was transported to a
hospital in police custody, police said.
No other injuries were reported.
It wasn’t clear whether the man was armed.
