A homeless man already on probation for felony vandalism and making criminal threats was allegedly found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and a Molotov cocktail when officers stopped him on a bicycle in Torrance, police said Monday.

Patrol officers stopped the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Dale Williams, for an alleged traffic violation about 11:10 p.m. Saturday in the area of 186th Street and Burin Avenue, according to Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris.

“During the investigation, the subject was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine as well as a destructive device determined to be a Molotov cocktail,” Harris said.

The sheriff’s bomb squad was called in to dispose of the Molotov cocktail and Williams was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a destructive device, the sergeant said.
