Caltech 10th best university in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report

Caltech was ranked as the 10th best university in the nation on an annual list released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report.

Top Grad Programs In Sciences

“In addition to its undergraduate studies, Caltech offers top graduate programs in engineering, biology, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, mathematics and physics,” according to the magazine. “Caltech participates in a significant amount of research, receiving grants from institutions such as NASA, the National Science Foundation and the Department of Health and Human Services, among others.”

Princeton Takes Top Spot

Leading the magazine’s list of top national universities was Princeton University, followed by Harvard, a tie between the University of Chicago and Yale University for third place, and a three-way tie among Columbia University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University for fifth.

UCLA And Berkeley Tie For Best Public University

USC and UCLA landed in a four-way tie for 21st place on the list, along with UC Berkeley and Emory University in Atlanta.

UCLA and UC Berkeley tied for first place on the magazine’s list of the nation’s top public universities.

Southland Schools Make The List

UC Irvine and UC San Diego tied for ninth place with the University of Florida on the public universities list.

In other rankings, Loyola Marymount University placed third on the list of regional universities in the west, with Chapman University in Orange placing fifth.

Pomona College finished in a tie for sixth place on the magazine’s list of top liberal arts colleges, while Claremont McKenna College tied for eighth.
