A series of watch parties for LGBT fans of Los Angeles Chargers telecasts will begin Sunday at The Basement Tavern in Santa Monica.
The parties, dubbed “Gay Gridiron,” are organized by Venice Pride, a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, the commemoration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning and others heritage and the celebration of LGBT culture and liberation.
Sunday’s party at 10 a.m. at 2640 Main St. will include a Charger Girls photo booth, team giveaways and big-screen televisions for fans to watch CBS’ telecast of the Chargers-New England Patriots game. It is free and open to the public, but a ticket is required for entry.
Additional Gay Gridiron events will be held for the Charger road games on Nov. 12, Nov. 23, Dec. 16 and Dec. 24.
“From our inception, Venice Pride has pushed the envelope in unique and impactful ways, funneling grass-roots community involvement, equality and empowerment to Angelenos across the city,” said Venice Pride executive director Grant Turck.
“The L.A. Chargers are dedicated to making all communities in L.A. feel welcome. We are thrilled to support the team’s efforts to raise visibility for the devoted LGBT football fans of L.A.”
Basement Tavern is located at 2640 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405.
