A derelict four-story apartment building on Vermont Avenue erupted into flames, and grew into a greater-alarm fire Sunday.
One hundred seven firefighters were sent to the fire, on Vermont just south of the Hollywood (101) Freeway, at 1:34 p.m.
They found flames coming out some windows, and fire burning into the attic , according to firefighter radio reports.
The building was described as vacant and boarded up.
The majority of the fire was centered on two sides of the building and the attic, fire department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The flames were knocked down in about 32 minutes, Stewart continued.
No injuries were reported.
A LAPD arson unit was dispatched to the scene, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation, she said.
