“Genius Junior,” a game show which will feature some of the nation’s smartest children, will premiere March 18, airing in the Sunday 9-10 p.m. time slot, NBC announced Friday.
NBC bills “Genius Junior” as “the ultimate test of smarts,” with three-person teams of children 12 years old and younger competing for five rounds in tests of logic, math, memory, spelling and more. The winning team will receive the Genius Junior Grant “that will set the stage for a big and bright future ahead,” according to NBC.
“Genius Junior” will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, who was first known for portraying a prodigy on the 1989-93 ABC comedy “Doogie Howser, M.D.” Harris is also be among the executive producers of the series that received a 10-episode order.
NBC also announced the alternative series “Little Big Shots” will begin its third season March 18, and regularly air in the 8-9 p.m. Sunday time slot beginning March 25.
