A grandmother shot in the face on Christmas Day on an Inglewood street while trying to fend off another woman who was attempting to steal her purse died of her injuries Thursday.

The shooting took place about 1 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Yukon Avenue and 104th Street, police said.

Responding officers found the wounded woman, later identified as Lourdes Padilla, wounded on the sidewalk. Padilla was in critical condition when she was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead two days later, police said

The 70-year-old grandmother was a long-time resident and had left home to go to a store before she was shot, according to NBC4.

Investigators have released images of the vehicle captured by a nearby security camera.
