El Monte police found more than half a ton of marijuana at an illegal grow house, authorities said Tuesday.
Nearly 2,700 plants with an estimated street sale value of more than $1 million were found when officers went to the 2600 block of Strozier Avenue about 4:30 p.m. Monday on a report of a landlord-tenant dispute, according to the El Monte Police Department.
Two people were detained for questioning, and the investigation was continuing, police said.
“These unregulated illegal marijuana grows are a hazard to our community,” El Monte police Chief David Reynoso said. “Our police department has zero tolerance for this type of illegal activity.”
