The head of Los Angeles County’s housing authority was fired Tuesday, despite the fact that the county is in the midst of a major push to build more affordable housing and battle the region’s homelessness crisis.

The Board of Supervisors came out of a closed-door meeting to announce the decision to dismiss Executive Director Sean Rogan, but offered no further details.

A spokesman told City News Service that the county does not comment on personnel matters.

Rogan was appointed to lead the Community Development Commission and Housing Authority in May 2009 and has been responsible for housing development, vouchers for the homeless and various community construction projects, including libraries and community centers.

He was paid a salary of $218,472, according to online county records.

Monique King-Viehland is the CDC’s deputy executive director, but it was not immediately clear whether she would serve as acting director.
