A man who stabbed his ex-girlfriend in front of their young son in her West Covina home was sentenced Monday to 20 1/2 years to life in prison.
Eduardo Marin, 48, of Los Angeles pleaded no contest June 18 to attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree burglary and cruelty to a child by endangering health. He also admitted allegations that he personally used a knife and caused great bodily injury under circumstances involving domestic violence.
On Oct. 13, 2016, Marin broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in the 3100 block of Adrienne Drive and stabbed her multiple times in front of the boy, said Deputy District Attorney Michelle Graves. Marin also attacked a female family member of the victim who tried to intervene.
He was arrested nearby shortly after the attack and has remained behind bars since then.
