Actress Niecy Nash, star of the TNT dramedy “Claws” and a two-time Primetime Emmy nominee and Daytime Emmy winner, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday.

Nash joked that she called her mother Tuesday night and told her, “Oh my gosh, I don’t have a speech.”

“And my mother said, `Well, that’s all right, just get up there and thank me,”‘ Nash said. “I said I will do that, but first I want to thank God. I want to thank him, then my mother and family, my husband, I love you.”

She said she remembered watching television with her grandmother when she was 5 years old, and she saw Lola Falana on the screen.

“I said I want to do that. I want to be black, fabulous and on TV,” Nash said. “And I am that. I will tell you, every day I don’t feel fabulous, but I still show up. I show up and I play fabulous until it meets me where I am.”

“Claws” was renewed for a third season on July 2.

Born Carol Denise Ensley on Feb. 23, 1970, Nash received a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills, majoring in theater arts.
