Paradise Pier will become Pixar Pier in 2018, part of an effort to bring more elements of the popular Pixar animated films to Disney California Adventure, Walt Disney Co. executives announced Saturday.
Pixar Pier will include characters and stories from such Pixar films as “The Incredibles,” “Inside Out” and “Toy Story,” Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek and John Lasseter, chief creative officer of the Walt Disney Co. and Pixar Animation Studios, announced Saturday at D23 Expo 2017 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Pixar Pier will open in connection with Pixar Fest
Pixar Pier will open in connection with Pixar Fest, a limited-time offering including a new fireworks show, special characters and entertainment moments. Pixar Fest will also include the return of the Pixar Play Parade to Disneyland Resort, at Disneyland Park, and the move of the Paint the Night Parade to Disney California Adventure.
What Chapek described as immersive superhero experience including Spider- Man and the Avengers will be coming to Disney California Adventure.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the newly announced name for the Star Wars- themed lands at Disneyland that will open in 2019, will include guests being able to meet such “Star Wars” characters as BB-8, Chewbacca, Rex and Kylo Ren, Chapek said.
Chapek also announced that the 22-minute pyrotechnic show “Fantasmic!” would return to Disneyland’s Frontier Land Saturday night, two days earlier than previously announced. The battle between the forces of good and evil had not been performed recently due to adjacent park refurbishment.
