One day before opening preseason play, the Los Angeles Rams moved to bolster the team’s receiving corps Friday, finalizing a trade with the Buffalo Bills for wide receiver Sammy Watkins, a former first- round draft pick.

The Deal

The Rams traded away cornerback E.J. Gaines and a second-round pick in next year’s NFL draft in exchange for Watkins and the Bills’ sixth-round 2018 draft pick.

“Sammy has proven he can be a productive player and an explosive receiver in this league. We look forward to having him in a Rams uniform,” Rams General Manager Les Snead said.

“An Explosive Receiver”

Watkins was the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft. In his sophomore season, he hauled in 60 passes for nine touchdowns and 1,047 yards, averaging 17.5 yards per catch.

Meanwhile, the Rams on Friday also announced the team’s television and radio broadcast crews.

Television Play-By-Play Pick

On the television side, Andrew Siciliano will handle play-by-play duties, along with Marshall Faulk and Daniel Jeremiah as color commentators, Jill Arrington and Dani Klupenger will work the sidelines. The Spanish-language call will be handled by Ramses Sandoval, joined by Pepe Segarra and Eduardo Blancas.

Radio Broadcaster

Radio broadcasts for ESPNLA 710 will be led by J.B. Long, along with Maurice Jones-Drew as color commentator and D’Marco Farr on the sidelines. Spanish-language duties on ESPN Deportes 1330 will handled by Troy Santiago and analyst Ricardo Lopez.

The Rams open preseason play at 6 p.m. Saturday with a game against the Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
