“Thor: Ragnarok” had a “hammer-like” grip on the nation’s moviegoers this weekend, an industry analyst said Sunday, and was expected to deal $56.6 million in tickets at the North American box offices.

The Disney/Marvel movie was on the way to a “whopping” $211.6 million take over 10 days in the United States and Canada, said comScore’s Paul Dergarabedian. Add in overseas sales, and the superhero flick is a $650 million machine.

The slapstick Will Ferrell movie “Daddy’s Home 2” opened in second place, with $30 million in North American sales for Paramount.

And “Murder On The Orient Express” opened in third place, with an estimated $28.2 million in the till.

Rounding out the 10 most-popular movies this week, as estimated by the studios, were “A Bad Mom’s Christmas” ($11.5 million), “Jigsaw” ($3.4 million), “Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween” ($2 million), “Geostrom” ($1.5 million), “Blade Runner 2049” ($1.4 million), “Happy Death Day” ($1.3 million) and “Lady Bird” ($1.2 million).
