south of Del Amo Boulevard, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
The driver, identified as 20-year-old Jacob Evans of Long Beach, and a
passenger, 19-year-old Henry Ramos, also of Long Beach, died at the scene,
A second passenger, a man about 18-25 years of age, died at a hospital,
Winter said. His name was withheld, pending family notification.
“The initial investigation indicates the Dodge (Charger) was traveling
southbound on Van Ness Avenue through Del Amo Boulevard at a high rate of speed
when it lost control for an unknown reason and collided with a tree…,” a
Torrance police statement said.
Van Ness Avenue was closed in both directions between Del Amo Boulevard
and Harpers Way for more than five hours while an investigation was conducted.
