Labor Day gas prices haven’t been this low since 2004

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was at its lowest amount for a Labor Day since 2004 today, at $2.728.

And the average price was $2.711 — about a penny less — in Orange County.

The Los Angeles County average price was unchanged today, one day after
rising one-tenth of a cent, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price
Information Service. It is 1.1 cents more than one week ago and 1.7 cents
higher than one month ago but 76.6 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price was also at its lowest amount for a
Labor Day since 2004, $2.711. It was also unchanged today, one day after rising
two-tenths of a cent.

The Orange County average price is 1.3 cents more than one week ago and
2.3 cents higher than one month ago but 71.6 cents less than one year ago.
