I can’t help but wonder if the person who designed the new bus stop seats for the Big Blue Bus has actually ever waited for a bus.
Though the previous benches were old, many had covers which protected people from the sun and the rain. Now, there is a bit shelter located several feet away from the seats, so it’s either you sit or you have shelter. Also, the new seats are small and very close together, and don’t allow any space for a purse or shopping bag. And, what was the point of making less seats available for people? How much did these impractical seats cost the City of Santa Monica? Were they really created to prevent the homeless from using them, as some people have suggested?
